By Train: There are several direct trains connecting Mumbai and Mysore. The journey from Mumbai to Mysore by train is 1062 km and the elapsed time can be more or less than 22 hours. The two direct trains are the Sarawati Express from Dadar Junction to Mysore and the Ajmer Mysore Express from Ajmer, from Kalyan Junction in Mumbai to Mysore Junction. But these trains are once a week or every two months. You can also opt for a train that connects Mumbai to Bangalore and then travel from Bangalore to Mysore by train or road.

 

Road: The land distance from Mumbai to Mysore is approximately 1045 km. Most of the travel is on state and national highways, which are in excellent condition and allow people to enjoy the changing scenery around them as they travel from the countryside to the city. However, traveling by car from Mumbai to Mysore is not recommended as it is difficult, expensive and time consuming. The journey from Mumbai to Mysore can take 17 to 18 hours. There are many KSRTC AC buses and other facilities that run directly from Mumbai to Mysore and can be easily booked online.

Historically, after a fire in the Mysore Maharaja's Palace in 1861, Krishna Raja of Mysore and the Third Kingdom built another residence for the royal family. From 1897 to 1912, the royal family lived safely in the Jagan Mohan Palace. The 150-year-old mansion is known for the intricate wood carvings that adorn the entire building. It also houses the finest galleries of South India, rebuilt in 1915 by Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV.

 

Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum

 

 

The Mysore Sand Sculpture Museum is a monument of pure imagination and aesthetic talent. Opened by M.N Gowri, it is an updated extension of popular attractions in Mysore. 150 models and 16 themes were presented to guests to consider the intricacies of sand making. Located on Chamundi Hill Road, this historic center covers over 13,500 square meters and mainly highlights the heritage of Mysore. In this historic center, a 15-meter high sand sculpture pays tribute to vacationers.
